Gorgeous garden weddings and intimate receptions
Here at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, small is beautiful. We offer all-inclusive elopements, micro celebrations for up to 25 and mini weddings for up to 75.

Get ready to celebrate at the Museum
You’ll find the museum’s auditorium hall a wonderful “blank canvas” for a milestone celebration. The room, comfortably accommodating up to 75 guests, has an open floor plan with raised stage. The natural light makes it a beautiful choice – day or evening.

Set the right tone for your company event
Our flexible event space, both indoors and out, can accommodate just about any company occasion including meetings, training sessions, team happy hours, and elegant holiday parties. The auditorium hall can accommodate up to 75 for a seated dinner or classroom style. We can also help you with your A/V needs.

Complete your occasion
All room rentals include the museum’s tables and chairs with staff setup and breakdown. We can help complete your occasion with a variety of rentals, from linens and chair covers to audio/visual equipment and popup tents. We even have a Baby Grand Piano! Our event enhancements

Small is Beautiful – Elopements and intimate wedding ceremonies and receptions.

There’s nothing more beautiful than a Rose Garden wedding at The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History. Unless it’s exchanging your vows beneath our expansive canopy of trees or on the steps of the Sutherlin Mansion.  After your ceremony, enjoy cocktail time on the veranda and adjacent patio before heading into the auditorium hall for an intimate wedding reception.

All-inclusive elopements
If you want more than a “courthouse ceremony,” we have the perfect elopement package. Just bring your witnesses and officiant and we’ll do the rest!

Ceremony and reception packages
Choose from one of our beautiful outdoor ceremony locations – the Rose Garden, under the trees, or on the steps of the mansion. 

Elevate your wedding reception
Our elopements, micro, and mini wedding packages include use of the museum’s tables and chairs and their setup/breakdown by staff. We can help you complete your event with linens, chair covers, unique serviceware – even the use of a Baby Grand Piano.


Non-Profit Rates

Non-Profit Rates for rental of the auditorium for meetings, events, and programs.

$40 per hour during the museum’s regular working hours.
*$55 per hour outside of the museum’s regular working hours.
$250 flat rate per day during regular working hours.

Security Deposit
A $50 Security Deposit is to be paid by check upon signing a contract to secure the date and protect the museum from damages. If no damages occur, the check will be returned to the host within 10 days.

Use of Additional Rooms
$200 flat rate per additional room (Children’s Room or Galleries, if available)

Auditorium Rental Includes the Following
Use of the auditorium, kitchen, tables and chairs, multimedia system (projector, sound system, screen).

Food and Decorations
The host is responsible for obtaining food or catering. Cooking cannot be done on museum premises. Glitter, live plants and adding holes in the audotorium walls are prohibited. Open flames are prohibited. No food or drink allowed outside of the auditorium.

Caterer
Caterers must be licensed with the City of Danville and the State of Virginia, and they must be insured. Copies of the license and insurance documents must be submitted no later than 2 days prior to the event. Failure to do so will result in the event cancellation.

ABC License
The host is responsible for obtaining an ABC license for events serving alcohol. A copy must be submitted no later than 2 days prior to the event. Failure to do so will result in the event cancellation.

Museum Staff Duties
Set up tables, chairs, and multimedia equipment.
If promotional materials are given beforehand, museum staff will market the program or event to museum contacts and social media sites.

Submit your religious or spiritual art and artifacts for the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History’s December exhibition. The form is open until November 7, 2024, at 4:00 PM, and selected contributors will be notified via email.

The DMFAH will be CLOSED Saturday, Jan 11th due to Inclement Weather

There will be no yoga or meditation classes this weekend.
